Shello is a social app that allows women to connect with like-minded individuals in their local areas, join chat rooms on topics of interest, and arrange meetups and events. Created by the founder of Citysocializer in collaboration with the brilliant team at Netguru, the platform provides a space for women to foster community connections both online and in person.
Working directly with the founder, I played a key role in expanding and redesigning some of the app’s core features. My involvement spanned from brainstorming UX strategies to delivering the final visual design, ensuring Shello provided an intuitive and engaging user experience.

The Challenge
The core challenge for Shello was to create a platform that felt welcoming, easy to use, and engaging while supporting the practical needs of organizing real-world interactions.
It needed to combine the social aspects of community building with robust features for event planning and chat, all in a way that felt seamless for the user. Achieving this balance required thoughtful UX design that catered specifically to how women interact with social platforms.

Throughout the project, I worked closely with the founder to shape Shello’s user experience. Starting with in-depth brainstorming sessions, we refined ideas for key features, including topic-based chat rooms and local event organization. The goal was to create a simple and intuitive flow that made it easy for users to move between conversations and event planning.

From there, I focused on translating these ideas into a cohesive UX strategy. We mapped out user journeys, defined key personas, and identified the most critical actions users would need to take within the app. This stage was crucial in ensuring the app’s functionality met the needs of its users without feeling cluttered or complex.
Once the UX was solidified, I moved on to the visual design of the app. The UI needed to be approachable and user-friendly, reflecting the social and supportive nature of the platform. I worked to create a clean, visually appealing interface, using soft colors and simple navigation to ensure the design felt both welcoming and easy to navigate.

The final result was a platform that successfully combined ease of use with robust functionality. Shello’s chat rooms encouraged users to engage with topics they cared about, while the local meetup feature made it simple to organize in-person gatherings.
By focusing on both the UX strategy and UI design, I helped create an app that provides a seamless and enjoyable experience for women looking to connect in their communities.
